Our winter weather covers the gamut. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing opportunities are in our backyard, alpine skiing just up the hill in Tahoe. Some sunny days allow for a great bike ride or a hike in the woods. In addition to our major seasonal events numerous music, art and live theater performances happen all year.

November: Thanksgiving Weekend, Country Christmas Faire.

December: Victorian Christmas in Nevada City and Cornish Christmas in Grass Valley. Visitors will experience the charm of our Victorian towns decked out in festive lights. Music, dance and theatre, from the Nutcracker and Winter Dance to Music in the Mountains concert series.

January: The Wild and Scenic Film Festival featuring award-winning environmental films from around the world. Wedding planners and brides-to-be can find the perfect venue and all they need to create their dream wedding at the Wedding Fair.
